The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused individual to join our Children's Department as a Part-Time Customer Service Assistant. This role provides front-line service to families, caregivers, and children, assisting with library materials, programs, and resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Answers reference and reader's advisory questions in person and by telephone.
- Prepares and presents storytimes; may assist with other programs.
- Develops displays and bulletin boards.
- Assists users individually and in groups in the use of library materials and equipment.
- Shares information about library services and programs to individuals.
- Presents outreach storytimes; may assist with other outreach activities as assigned.
- Develops and maintains a working knowledge of childhood brain development and developmentally appropriate practice.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred. Previous customer service experience, especially working with children or families, is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable working with technology, including library catalog systems and digital resources. Ability to work in a fast-paced, energetic environment. A passion for literacy, education, and public service. Valid driver’s license.
Position will be part-time (24 hours/week). The work schedule will include at least two evening shifts and alternating Friday/Saturday shifts per week. Please refer to the Core Competencies for Library Staff on the library’s website, www.wtcpl.org.
