Sportable is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to manage the day-to-day financial operations of our organization. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the organization's financial data and compliance by managing accounts payable and receivable, approving bi-monthly payroll, recording daily financial entries and reconciliations, and producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. A successful candidate for this role will have a strong attention to detail and a commitment to fulfilling our mission. This is a hybrid position requiring some work to be completed in the office, and some in a remote location. The Accounting Specialist reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

This is a full-time, nonexempt position. Some night and weekend work may be required.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Recording Financial Transactions : Accurately record and track all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments; and, coordinate with a third-party financial services firm for journal entries and reconciliation.
- Reconciling Accounts : Ensure all records in the organization's accounts match the corresponding bank statements and correct any discrepancies.
- Produce Financial Reports : In coordination with a third-party financial services firm, prepare monthly reconciliations, data entries, and financial statements. Respond and provide financial updates to department heads, as requested. Support COO and the Finance Committee with preparations for monthly meetings.
- Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable : Process and track all invoices that require payment by the organization; and, generate, dispatch, and follow up on invoices for funds owed to the organization.
- Prepare Bi-Monthly Payroll : Work with COO and a third-party vendor to complete payroll twice per month; and, reconcile all applicable PTO and payroll tax information. Manage payments to vendors, including coaches; and collect and track Memorandum of Agreements (MOA) and W9s.
- Ensuring Compliance : Frequently review and ensure financial records comply with relevant laws and regulations, including retirement plans and other applicable benefits; and, review and respond to financial requests related to 501(C)(3) nonprofit designation.
- Assisting with Audits : Provide information and documentation required for annual audit.
- Tax Compliance : Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations; assist with preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax returns.
- Budgeting and Forecasting : Assist in the preparation of annual operating budget and financial forecasts.
- Expense & Asset Tracking : Monitor and record expenses and assets, ensuring they are correctly categorized.
- Cash Flow Management : Monitor and manage the organization's cash flow to ensure financial stability.
- Financial Software Management : Maintain and update the organization's financial software systems.
- Grant Financial Management : Track and report on grant-specific financial activities.
- Financial Policy Development : Assist in creating and updating financial policies and procedures.

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
