Job Summary:

The Main Street Program Coordinator will focus on running the Warrensburg Farmers’ Market and offering Event support. The Main Street Program Coordinator will work with and provide direction to committees, volunteers, interns and other organizations regarding Warrensburg Main Street (WMS) events and promotions. The Main Street Coordinator is primarily responsible for running the Farmer’s Market throughout the season and assisting in planning and providing implementation of promotions and events. The Coordinator will work closely with the Marketing and Event Coordinator on all of our social media platforms along with website updates and maintenance. They will also perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director including but not limited to farmers market committee meetings, volunteer recruitment, data organization and office organization.

Job Scope:

The Main Street Program Coordinator organizes and runs the Warrensburg Farmers’ Market and assists with events and promotions within the downtown revitalization program, which utilizes historic preservation as an integral foundation for downtown economic development. The Main Street Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, conduct, execution and documentation of Warrensburg Main Street Farmers’ Market, events and promotions. The Main Street Program Coordinator with guidance from the Marketing and Event Coordinator supervises volunteers, interns and community service workers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the farmers’ market.
  • Assist with setup, operation and takedown of the Saturday morning farmers’ market as well as event setup, clean up, teardown, and support during other Main Street events.
  • Research and report on aspects of farmers’ markets across the country and state, including but not limited to customer counts, best practices, untapped market segments, untapped revenue streams (such as food hubs), common market goods, grant availability and grant writing.
  • Collect, enter, tabulate and help in analysis of collected data.
  • Assist with and/or implement/lead activities such as coordinating guest chefs and cooking demonstrations utilizing in- season produce, coordinating children’s activities, planning/implementing special market days and organizing live music for the farmers’ market.
  • Attend and report on vendor site visits as needed.
  • Assist committee volunteers with implementation of work plan items. Work with the Executive Director on the coordination of committee agendas, meetings, minutes, and correspondence.
  • Help make media buys and work with the Marketing & Event Coordinator on creation of marketing materials.
  • Prepare reports and evaluations following each event.
  • Prepare a marketing plan for the farmers’ market. Design, distribute flyers made for the farmers’ market in various formats and avenues. Create posters, flyers, certificates, logos, tickets, etc. in Canva and/or similar systems for other events
  • Update and upkeep of website content and social media sites for the farmers’ market; research and report on broadcast email and text services available.
  • Assist in Social Media marketing for events including Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok and others, as needed for the following accounts: Warrensburg Main Street, Warrensburg Farmers’ Market, Third Wednesday Art Walk and Love What’s Local
  • Create press releases for events and post through all appropriate media outlets.
  • Create and update Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, PowerPoints, presentations, programs, work plans, events guides, Google Drive and forms, newsletters, and/or contracts where needed for events.
  • Complete permit requests for street closures, noise ordinances, open container permits, picnic licenses, school district permits for handouts, etc.
  • Other office duties include, answering phones, processing mail, distributing flyers, office housekeeping, distributing Shopping Guides to downtown businesses, and running errands for the office
  • Secure and coordinate volunteers and interns. Delegate duties to volunteers and interns.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of event and promotion management.
  • Proficient with Google applications utilizing Docs, Sheets, Slides and other applications.
  • Experience with graphic design platforms such as Canva, Adobe applications or other avenues.
  • Budgeting, accounting and strategic planning experience.
  • Combination of education and experience.

The physical requirements of this position: Primarily sedentary work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time with walking and standing required only occasionally. Ability to walk upstairs.

The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception and field vision: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.

Applicants must be available to work Every Saturday from May till September and some additional nights and weekends

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
