Position Title: Payroll & Accounts Payable Clerk
Reports To: Controller
Location: Headquarters (10144 Sparta Hwy, Rock Island, TN 38581)
Base pay: $20 - $25 per hour (DOE)

Position Overview:
As the Payroll & Accounts Payable Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate processing of payroll and vendor payments while supporting the day-to-day financial operations within the accounting department. This role requires proficiency in QuickBooks, attention to detail, and an understanding of payroll and accounts payable processes as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. You will ensure that payroll is processed on time, invoices are paid accurately, and financial records are maintained in compliance with industry standards. To be successful, you will need strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and the capability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external vendors.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor invoices and reconcile payments, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements.
- Verify that all invoices comply with company policies and are properly coded in QuickBooks.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies regarding billing or payment.
- Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
- Prepare supporting documentation for audits, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all transactions, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Payroll Processing:
- Process and manage weekly and bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in wage calculations, deductions, and tax compliance.
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies in a timely manner through collaboration with appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain confidential payroll records and ensure data security.
- Assist with month-end closing activities related to payroll.
- Ensure payroll data is properly stored and easily accessible for audits or inquiries.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment by collaborating with HR and other departments on payroll matters.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Attributes:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Prior experience in payroll processing and accounts payable or similar accounting roles.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel (experience with other accounting software a plus).
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Familiarity with payroll processing and tax regulations.
- Previous experience in the manufacturing or construction industry, particularly within the concrete sector, is a plus.
Education Requirements:
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Military experience or equivalent civilian certifications accepted in place of secondary education.
Pay and Benefits:
- Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range, which will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. The base pay for this role is between $20 and $25 per hour depending on experience (DOE).
