This internship is designed to help students learn how county government operates while developing new skills that will enhance planning outcomes. This role is part of a hybrid working team with the option to work remotely up to 40% of the week.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Interns must be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student enrolled in an accredited institution and majoring in planning, urban studies, geography, political science, economics, public health, business administration, public administration or closely related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous planning experience or experience in local or county government
- Ability to take initiative on collaborative projects and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Professional reading and writing skills
- Experience working in diverse communities
- Previous office experience and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite

The work will involve remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time, although the incumbent will need to move about inside the office to access files or equipment from time to time and may occasionally need to travel to other sites to perform work or interact with other professionals. The ability to operate and interact with computers or other office equipment, via keyboard, mouse, touch screen, or other Human Interface Device (HID) is required. The incumbent will be exposed to noise and a regular flow of people around an office environment, assigned to changing priorities and occasionally required to work outside of typical business hours to meet project deadlines, or be available on an on-call basis for special projects or to provide support. Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
