Washington County's Procurement Department is excited to welcome a new Procurement Specialist to join our team!

You’ll have the opportunity to wear many hats; to be a strategic business partner; interacting and providing customer service with internal and external clients, and providing guidance and training on organization processes and procedures as needed.
 
This position is part of a six-person team working under the direction of the Procurement Manager. We are looking for a candidate who cares about public service, improving processes and operations, and reaching out to our community to form relationships and provide education.  

Position Duties
  • Office administrative functions, including scheduling, organizing reports and presentation materials, maintaining complex and confidential files and records, and composing correspondence.
  • Work in the County's ERP system creating purchase orders and processing contracts; assist others with these tasks.
  • Create and implement training materials and processes.
  • Coordinate communications and information both internally and externally.
  • Navigate complex and dynamic scheduling with partners, staff leadership, community meetings, and committees.
  • Act as liaison through contract processes, working with contract managers, finance staff and partners to ensure contracts are fully and properly prepared for submission.
  • Act as liaison with other County Departments, provide updates, and perform necessary tasks to ensure Finance is in compliance with County policies. 
  • Support the hiring and onboarding process by scheduling interviews, working with hiring managers, and coordinating technical and personnel needs for new staff.
  • Support technical assistance for Finance, coordinating with the IT department and other County resources. 
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with staff, residents, and the general public.
  • Plan and organize work independently.
  • Update spreadsheets and software as needed.
  • Work confidentially with discretion.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, using courtesy, patience and tact.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent AND
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience providing administrative or clerical support.

  2. Minimum Qualification Review: HR will screen applications for MQs after the posting closes on February 9th, 2025.
  3. Subject Matter Expert Review: Your SME answers may be evaluated and scored by a panel of subject matter experts. Your total score for this examination will affect your placement on the eligible list (a list of candidates eligible for interviews). This process will begin after February 16th, 2025.
  4. Panel Interview(s): Panel interviews will be scheduled for the top candidates who successfully pass the initial screening step. First round interviews will be conducted the week of February 23rd, 2025.
  5. Conditional Offer of Appointment: Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the successful candidate(s) and extend an offer of appointment.
  6. Post-Offer Check: The successful candidate will undergo a background check.
  7. Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.
