Accounts Payable Specialist
IN THE
Washington County Clerk/ Auditor's Office
FULL TIME / WITH BENEFITS
$21.50 an hour
Performs a variety of routine clerical and administrative tasks to expedite services and ensure compliance with the statutory responsibilities of the county Clerk-Auditor's office. Manages the accounts payable processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in handling invoices, payments, and department communications.
Accounts Payable:
- Execute various clerical duties to support the day-to-day operations and projects of the county Auditor's office.
- Handle accounts payable tasks such as reviewing claims, assigning vendor numbers, and verifying payment authorizations through proper signatures.
- Ensure the correct allocation of expenditures according to fund accounts and codes.
- Enter claims and transactions into the accounting system.
- Generate reports to show accounts payable status and prepare check registers for commissioner approval.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school with course background in accounting or bookkeeping, plus one (1) year of specialized training in computerized accounting and spreadsheets (preferably governmental accounting);
AND
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience related to above duties.
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
