Description

The Community Life Pastor is responsible for all aspects of connecting the community to the church, and the church to the community, helping new people to become part of the congregation from first-time visit through baptism and initial involvement. This includes advertising, marketing, outreach focused special events, newcomer assimilation, and weekend service guest services

Duties

1. Direct outreach, with emphasis on local outreach

a. Recruit & train leaders to organize outreach teams and efforts to local, national, and international mission initiatives.

2. Engage visitors - Manage a team to see that newcomers to the weekend services:

a. Are welcomed

b. Understand how to meaningfully connect further into the community of the Crossing

3. Direct small groups

a. Recruit & train small group leaders to build discipleship groups that emphasize learning to walk together as a means of walking like Jesus.

4. Manage global missions

a. Vision, team, and budget, emphasizing launching and supporting missions efforts.

5. Local outreach

a. Goal:

i. Bing in first time visitors, especially those who are new to the faith rather than those who are moving from other local churches.

ii. Emphasis on drawing young families.

iii. Develop means of retaining visitors and moving them into community.

b. Roles

i. Planning – generating the plan to attract visitors.

ii. Equipping/Training volunteer and leadership development.

iii. Execution - ensure the entire congregation is effectively engaged with the community.

c. Essential functions

i. Lead a team of volunteers in the accomplishment of all aspects of ensuring the church maintains and improves its outreach focus.

ii. Function as owner and champion of all external marketing activities maximizing attendance of special outreach focused events, key evangelistic sermon series, and any other activity requiring external marketing support.

iii. Work with church staff to ensure the church continuously invites new people and engages them in the pathway to eventually become regular attendees.

1. Facilitate a Starting Point class as the first step in an attendee’s connection and involvement in the church. Initiate new/additional classes as needed.

2. Direct and equip staff and lay leaders in the facilitation of regular Membership Classes as the vehicle for becoming a member of the church and learning the foundational behaviors and principles for becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ.

6. Serve as part of our teaching team by

a. Providing input as the Senior Pastor maps out the scope and sequence for the coming teachings

b. Developing and presenting sermons as requested

c. Functioning as a potential back-up to the Senior Pastor with an “emergency sermon” at the ready

7. Function as a member of the church’s pastoral staff

8. Develop an annual departmental budget and manage spending to budget.

9. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

1. A committed follower of Jesus Christ, relying on the Bible as the foundation and standard for understanding what that means.

7. Degree from accredited university

8. At least five years of full-time employment in a pastoral role is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
