Department Marketing Statement:
This Logistics specialist deals with Asset management that includes acquisition, labeling, recording, tracking throughout the lifecycle beginning with acquisition to disposal. The Asset distribution involves the extraction of assets from inventory by job order, material packaging, control reporting, distribution, and signoff of transfer/delivery.
Experience in performing asset management duties and knowledge of Government procurement processing and accounts payable functions is a plus . To include the ability to use automated tracking systems, proficient in writing asset management reports/updates, and possess communication skills necessary to coordinate and document asset transfer between vendors, customers and other stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor¿s Degree in Business Administration, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of five (5) years of work in a Telecommunications environment. At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience supporting Telecommunication operations and operations support programs. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of databases and the ability to create and maintain databases and spreadsheets for tracking purposes.
Or, an equivalent combination of accredited post high school education in business administration, public administration, or a related field. A minimum of nine (9) years of work in a Telecommunications environment. At least three (3) years of progressively responsible experience supporting Telecommunication operations and operations support programs. Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of databases and the ability to create and maintain databases and spreadsheets for tracking purposes.

Satisfactory completion of the medical examination for this position. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Job Summary/Duties:
This is administrative and technical support work of a difficult and sometimes confidential nature requiring project planning, development, implementation and analysis work. Employee is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and technical support functions. Employee independently administers and/or supports Authority-wide Voice Communication Technology Services programs such as the MetroNet data network, voice communication services, Carrier transmission system and lease data and voice circuits. Employee serves as liaison between departments within WMATA and communication service providers.
Develops, reviews, and revises administrative procedures, P/I¿s and compliance policies for managing all communication assets; develops and maintains administrative record keeping systems; prepares management information reports; conduct ongoing reconciliation of assets inventories and deployed equipment and, conceives and implements recommendations for improving Network Communication assets management program.
Provides technical assistance and guidance to the Authority on telecommunications matters and solutions.
Contacts vendors directly for requisition of materials in urgent priority cases as required.
Arranges for special distribution of materials upon arrival and in certain cases may assist supply personnel in inspecting products to determine in quality and quantity meet specifications.
Assists appropriate inventory management personnel in monitoring the inventory system to ensure expedited materials are in accordance with established performance levels.
Identifies operational efficiencies by planning and implementing tested solutions.
Reviews and processes application requests for telecommunication services to determine applicant eligibility and ensures compliance with established policies and procedures.
Develops and maintains organizational controls, record keeping and tracking systems, and databases for these programs, and monitors program compliance with Authority policies. Maintains program files including request forms, billings, materials inventory, and a variety of system control logs. Conducts periodic audits to ensure assignments of materials are intact.
Identifies trends and recommends possible methods for improving the delivery of services, working with others as appropriate. Develops recommendations to alleviate and resolve identified problems.
Assists in the development and administration of intra-office technical training programs for the telephone systems.
Provides continuing liaison between all departments of the Authority on administrative and technical matters of these program areas.
Assembles information for monthly reports and as required briefings, and conferences. Prepares and presents conclusions and recommendations to a variety of audiences. Prepares comprehensive an effective report on maintenance and material functions.
