JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: Paraprofessionals at times
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-exempt
LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 190 days
Classification: Licensed
HOURS: 7:50 am -3:25 pm
SALARY: $50,000 - $54,040 (A $2,000 stipend will be added for teaching Math or Science grades 7-12)
PRIMARY PURPOSE: A teacher is responsible for educating students while holding the belief that every student deserves an education which provides rigor, encourages resilience, and fosters responsibility. They also facilitate a safe space to learn, where communication, collaboration and critical thinking are used to push their students to be their very best.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/ Certification: Bachelor's Degree, Arkansas Teacher’s License

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Establishes and enforces rules of behavior for students in the classroom, administrative regulations and Board Policy.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Prepares lessons, units and projects to complete learning objectives and assisting in selecting of books, equipment, and other instructional materials
- Prepares for instruction for each class
- Instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
- Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units and projects
- Adapts teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles and capabilities of students
- Encourages students to explore learning opportunities and career paths
- Creates, assigns and grades various assessments for students, including tests, quizzes, essays and projects
- Works with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention
- Tracks and evaluates student academic progress
- Leads parent-teacher meetings
- Maintains positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers and supervisors
- Manages student behavior
- Creates and maintains a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment
- Communicates regularly with parents
- Helps students improve study methods and habits
- Administers assessments to evaluate students’ progress
- Attends and participates in professional, in-service, and faculty meetings
- Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods

- Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aids and/or lab assistants
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Other Physical Requirements
- Ability to move around inside on hard surface and industrial carpeted surfaces, and to travel at a brisk walking pace relatively long inside distances, without needing to stop or rest. (If applicable: Must be able to perform sustained CPR with the subject on the floor.)
- Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.
