THE POSITION

The Engineering, Traffic Engineering, and Survey (ETS) Division in the Department of Land Use and Transportation is now hiring an Engineering Associate to join the team!

The Position

The Engineering Associate will primarily perform civil plan review duties to ensure conformance with County Road Design and Construction Standards. ?The position will be responsible for performing technical work by reviewing plans on assigned projects, such as maintenance and/or transportation capital projects, development-related improvement projects, and other infrastructure-related projects constructed in the County right-of-way. The position provides technical staff assistance to higher-level engineering personnel.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has a civil engineering background with knowledge and/or experience in plan review, civil design, and/or engineering construction. They should also have some real-world experience, be a self-starter, and be detail-oriented. They are also able to manage multiple, simultaneous responsibilities while maintaining professional working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering management, surveying, or closely related field; OR
  • Associate’s Degree in civil engineering, construction engineering management, surveying, or closely related field; AND two (2) years of experience applying civil engineering theory, principles, and methods with emphasis on maintenance, plan preparation and review, road and bridge construction, inspection, and/or design review; OR
  • Four (4) years of experience applying civil engineering theory, principles, and methods with emphasis on maintenance, plan preparation and review, road and bridge construction, inspection, and/or design review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training (EIT).
  • Certificate of training in ProjectDox Electronic Plan Review System
  • Certificate of training in Accela Permitting System
  • Oregon Department of Transportation Inspection Certification(s): General Construction Inspector, Asphalt Concrete Pavement Inspector, Bridge Construction Inspector, Environmental Construction Inspector, Traffic Signal Inspector, or ADA Curb Ramp Certification
  • Fundamentals of Engineering certificate in Civil Engineering
  • Certificate of training in AutoCAD
  • Certificate of training in Autodesk Civil 3D

This is a non-represented position and is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment.
