THE POSITION

Washington County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting for our next leader to join our Records and Evidence Sections!

As a Records & Evidence Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and security of our criminal justice system. You'll be responsible for overseeing the efficient and accurate management of both criminal records and property evidence and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

You will also be responsible for managing the entire life cycle of criminal records and property evidence from intake and documentation to secure storage, retrieval, and disposition. You will implement and maintain effective security measures to protect the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive information and evidence. Additionally, you will ensure that all procedures comply with relevant laws, regulations, and established best practices. The Records & Evidence Manager leads a dedicated team of professionals in which this position will provide direction, training, and support to. Due to the responsibilities of this role, this position is eligible for occasional remote work only.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a proven track record of success in managing sensitive data and evidence. They will have a strong understanding of criminal justice procedures, chain of custody protocols, and evidence handling best practices. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to interact effectively with law enforcement, legal professionals, and community members. In this role, it is important the ideal candidate possesses exceptional leadership abilities instrumental in fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Lastly, they will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree; AND Four (4) years of work experience in law enforcement records or property evidence including at least two (2) years of work experience in a supervisory role; OR
  • Eight (8) years of work experience in law enforcement records or property evidence including at least four (4) years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.

ADDITIONAL LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS

  • Possession of a LEDS certification is required within six (6) months of appointment.
  • Passage of an extensive criminal history background check conducted by the Sheriff's Office.

  • Conditional Offer of Appointment: A conditional offer will be extended; the selected candidate will be required to pass a post-offer drug screen.
  • Offer of Appointment: Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the successful candidate(s) and extend an offer of appointment.
  • Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.

Management, Administrative and Professional Personnel System (MAPPS) - FLSA exempt employees are paid on a salaried basis. The premise of salaried/exempt employment is that established compensation recognizes the time and effort needed to accomplish all assigned job duties. Job responsibilities may require work outside of the employee's standard work week or a work week in excess of 40 hours.

This position is not represented under a collective bargaining agreement.

Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment. Job share employees are responsible for 50% of the premium. Part-time regular, variable hour, and temporary positions are not eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits.
