What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mascot Handler position at Washington Spirit?
The Washington Spirit is seeking a Mascot Handler for the 2024 season. The mascot handler will provide support to Washington Spirit mascot PK at each home match and across the DMV. The Mascot Handler operates under the direction of the Fan Experience and Promotions Coordinator.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Represent the Washington Spirit at various events across the DMV area including (but not limited to) home matches at Audi Field, special events, watch parties, partner appearances, festivals, etc.
- Keep the mascot on the game schedule including seat visits, performances and acting as a positive barrier between fans and PK when needing to keep moving to maintain the schedule.
- In charge of handling mascot supplies such as autograph cards/pens, signs, radio etc.
- Help PK sign autographs and take photos with fans.
- Maintain an energetic and engaging personality with good interpersonal communication skills.
- Create new ways and ideas for PK including in stadium entertainment, including fan interaction, skits etc.
- Serve as brand ambassador for the Washington Spirit while properly representing them in a professional manner at all times.
- Represent the organization as at third party events as the handler outside of the game schedule.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidates will reside locally.
- There is no guaranteed number of hours per week, scheduling is set on an as-needed event/match basis. Must be available to work all home games.
- Must be at least 18 years of age. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Required to travel frequently, within the DMV area with own vehicle transportation.
- Previous mascot handler experience preferred.
- Ability to excite, engage and entertain a crowd.
- Available for Washington Spirit home matches at Audi Field.
- Indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to adverse conditions.
- Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays in support of matches and events.
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination prior to employment start date.
