Primary Responsibilities:
- The individual should be detail-oriented and highly skilled using the ArcGIS editing tools, and should be familiar with shapefiles, geodatabases, and geodatabase topology.
- Update and maintain all maps and connectivity daily in Geographic Information System (GIS) Software.
- Runs regular “flow checks” within the Geographic Information System (GIS) Software and corrects errors.
- Ensures mapping consistency between Geographic Information System (GIS) Software and Outage Management (OMS) Software.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Operations staff to verify work orders are properly updated in mapping and connectivity.
- Utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) Software to create map presentations as needed by the Cooperative.
- Assists Engineering and Operations staff with work orders as needed.
- Works with software vendors for support when required.
- Utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) Software to run analysis and reports for requested information.
- Assists with maintaining the field staking and mapping software utilized by Linemen and Field Engineering staff.
- Responsible for updating mapping symbology as required by the Cooperative.
- Present improvements to mapping and implement changes.
- Explore integrations of Geographic Information System (GIS) Software with other software and hardware tools to improve the Cooperative’s efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting team needs and contributing to projects as required.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Associates degree or higher in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program or related degree is preferred.
- At least 4 years’ experience working with GIS software and spatial data analysis is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS 10.x Desktop software suite and general GIS principles and concepts.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
- Experience with SQL or other database query languages is preferred.
- Experience with ESRI software is preferred.
- Knowledge of programming in Python and other general-purpose languages is a plus.
