Sports Coach
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Three years of prior training experience or high school instructing experience (preferred)
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) certification
- First Aid and CPR certified
- Strong motivational abilities w/athletes & collaboration skills w/coaches/colleagues.
- Evidence of ability to interact positively with student athletes, coaches, colleagues, and the public; positive representation of WSC.
Duties:
- Implement and monitor safe and effective strength and conditioning programs to improve physical performance for intercollegiate teams.
- Test student-athletes to evaluate performance level and desired areas of improvement.
- Design training strategies for injury prevention and improve sport specific performance.
- Maintain accurate strength and conditioning records.
- Instruct, educate, and supervises all athletes regarding proper weight training and flexibility techniques.
- Maintain consistent communication with other coaches
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Has strong working knowledge of student strength training and conditioning practices.
- Has strong leadership and motivational skills.
- Has strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Has the ability to serve as a mentor and/or disciplinarian when appropriate.
- Has the ability to make quick decisions under pressure, handle stressful situations, and keep tempers in check.
- Has the ability to adapt to changing environments.
- Has the ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds; focuses on resolving conflict; listening to others without interruptions; remaining open to others' ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit and environment.
- Has the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instruction procedures manuals and regulations.
- Has the ability to write general reports and correspondence.
