Position Summary

The Director of Budget and Finance is a key operational leader in the Division of Student Affairs, directly advising the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs on all matters related to budget and finance. The Director provides leadership, strategic vision, and oversight of departments, processes, and policies pertaining to the provision of student services and support, as well as administrative oversight including financial reporting and operations. The Director will also work directly with the senior leadership in the Division as well as approximately 20 unit leaders across the Division. The Director is also the primary contact in the Division of Student Affairs for other budget/finance leaders across the University.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage Division resources including compensation and business operations. Provide leadership on policy development, best practice, process improvement, risk management, and compliance related to services and programs in Student Affairs. Handle special requests and policy exceptions. Maintain policies and procedures related to personnel of the division. Coordinate and collaborate with the Manager of HR Operations department on compensation decisions.
  • Prepare reports including analysis of historical data, current and projected results. Review information for reporting related to finances, staffing, grants, tax, scholarship, etc., ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Act as a thought leader in the development, implementation, and assessment of the Division’s strategic plan. Participate in short and long-term strategic planning for Division of Student Affairs. Represent division in internal and external management groups. Oversee special projects, committees, and taskforces (Examples: Student Affairs Management Team, Housing Task Force).
  • Supervise staff related to divisional finance operations. Provide guidance on processes, advocate for resources, provide performance feedback, and assign projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$84,200.00 - $148,500.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
