The Student Financial Services Manager oversees all aspects of student financial services for the School of Public Health’s graduate programs, to include implementing and developing policies and procedures, overseeing financial aid processing and compliance associated with Federal Student Aid programs, administering institutional graduate assistant fellowships, scholarship and aid programs, managing financial aid counseling services and programming, and developing data-driven financial aid strategies consistent with the mission and goals of the School of Public Health and Washington University.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Financial Aid Program Administration
- Administer financial aid programs within federal, state, and institutional regulatory requirements, and develop internal policies and procedures to ensure administrative compliance.
- Oversee the delivery of complete and accurate financial aid packaging; verification requirements; Title IV calculations and compliance; student loan processing, disbursement, and refunds; Federal Work-Study eligibility and expenditures; VA educational funds; internal and external scholarship allocation; tuition remission; budget and award modifications; accounts reconciliation; and audit reporting.
- Manage and evaluate institutional student financial support mechanisms and administers emergency funding and tuition gap assistance.
- Operate PowerFAIDS financial aid management software and information systems to increase the efficiency of financial aid operations and respond to reporting and analytical needs.
- Report and reconcile financial aid data for various internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with WashU Student Financial Services, Student Accounting, and School of Public Health Finance Office to streamline financial services and operations.
Financial Aid Counseling and Communications
- Oversee financial aid counseling functions and serve as primary advisor to prospective and current students and alumni regarding financial aid.
- Counsel students regarding financial aid options, application procedures, eligibility requirements, tuition and fees, cost of attendance, individual budgets, payment and repayment options, and financial obligations.
- Review professional judgment cases and render decisions on financial aid related matters and special financial circumstances.
- Monitor student compliance and communicate regarding regulations and requirements, changes to financial aid packages, deadlines, and other financial information.
- Calculate annual cost of attendance budget and update tuition and fees and other pertinent financial information in all applicable sources.
- Create and maintain resource materials and web content related to financial aid and financing a graduate school education; maintain a database of external scholarships.
- Present clear and concise financial aid information and programming in various settings, including individual and small group meetings, recruitment events, student orientations, and community engagements.
- Serve as project lead to develop and implement a financial literacy workshop series for students and a financial aid policies and procedures manual.
Graduate Assistantship and Scholarship Counseling and Communications
- Oversee Graduate Assistantship and Scholarship information sessions.
- Act as main advisor and counsel students regarding all graduate assistantship and scholarship applications and eligibility
- Help decide on student eligibility and recipients for graduate assistantships and scholarships
Leadership and Strategic Planning
- Develop financial aid strategies consistent with the School of Public Health’s mission, strategic plan, and enrollment management objectives to support recruitment and retention initiatives.
- Recommend, implement, and communicate necessary changes to internal policy, procedures, and processes in response to changes to regulations and requirements.
- Oversee day-to-day financial services operations.
- Promote an atmosphere of exceptional customer service to support positive student experiences and develop appropriate metrics and tracking mechanisms to measure effectiveness.
Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

$49,700.00 - $82,100.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
