Position Summary

The Office of Sponsored Research Services provides mission-critical support and risk management to the University’s research enterprise. The Preaward GA provides the Dean and University Institutional Official review and approval of grant, incoming subaward and contract applications/proposals and documents for all University submissions to external funding agencies. The Preaward GA enforces compliance and provides expert advice and training to faculty and administrators related to internal University/School and external agency procedures and policies related to research administration. Preaward responsibilities are University–wide and include reviewing and submitting applications for sponsored research activities. Under the supervision of the Manager, the Preaward GA will review and submit applications in the Research Management System (RMS), and other agencies’ systems for both Danforth Campus and the School of Medicine.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Preaward

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory and legal framework and vast compliance rules affecting sponsored research agreements.
  • Analyze and Interpret external agency guidelines to advise research administrators and faculty.
  • Provide detail-oriented review and Institutional final approval of on-line proposal components (e.g. budgets, regulatory compliance requirements) while providing expert guidance and enforcing compliance with University, School and external agency policies related to faculty eligibility and allowable costs. Review submissions for adherence to Federal regulations and agency requirements. Ensures accurate and timely submission of all proposals.
  • Provide analytical and detail-oriented review of final applications including review of budget, regulatory compliance information and conformity with a myriad of complex external electronic proposal systems to ensure proposals meet agency, federal and University requirements.
  • Manage a high-volume workload of application submissions ensuring accurate and timely submission by adhering to various deadline dates and times.
  • Ensure accuracy of data in Research Management System (RMS). Budgets, compliance and information must be precise to provide for accurate data for OSRS, Departments, School, University and external reporting.

Salary Range

$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
