About the Role:
We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to own the transactional responsibilities of our Finance team at WashU. Reporting into the Controller, the Accounting Clerk will complete the reoccurring weekly and monthly Accounting tasks, such as processing invoices, monthly closing, reporting, payments, and more. This position is listed as an Accounting Clerk and has a direct growth path to become an Accounts Receivable Specialist, including immediately if the right experience and abilities are demonstrated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Owns the daily preparation and sending of invoices, as well as ongoing payment reconciliation.
- Negotiates payment arrangements with vendors, partners, and customers. Resolves any potential payment discrepancies with these parties.
- Contacts clients for payment resolution.
- Performs assigned monthly close responsibilities.
- Performs assigned monthly account reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Produces reports as required by management.
- Identifies and supports with continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance team and across the company.
- Any other related duties as required.
Job Qualifications:
Required:
- Experience in Accounts Receivable and General Accounting
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred:
- Detailed understanding of the accounts receivable process, including billing, cash applications, and collections
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects and tasks
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills
