Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for performing repairs and preventive maintenance services on heavy equipment, including landfill compactors, dozers, excavators, motor graders, haul trucks, and other machinery.
- Ordering parts and building relationships with equipment vendors.
- Performing inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Utilizing vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
- Performing service calls for emergency breakdowns, which may occur on the working face of the landfill.
- Conducting safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Completing required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Responsibilities
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will also be responsible for:
- Maintaining a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
- Performing all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
