We're looking for an Equipment Operator to join our team at the LRI Landfill in Graham, WA. If you're ready for a hands-on, outdoor role where you can make a real difference in the community, this is the opportunity for you!
Who We Are: At Pierce County Recycling, Composting, and Disposal (LRI), we're committed to providing environmentally safe waste disposal and recycling services to residents and businesses. Our landfill spans 320 acres and is crucial in maintaining a clean, sustainable community. We take pride in exceeding environmental and safety standards, ensuring we make a positive impact every day.

- Impactful and Stable Work: As an Equipment Operator, you'll directly contribute to the landfill's operations and your community's waste management needs.
- Union Position & Competitive Pay: Starting at $30.12 per hour (80% of the union contract rate), you'll earn $33.89 per hour (90%) after 6 months and $37.65 per hour (100%) after one year. All shifts are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Friday, Saturday, and Monday are at the 304th St Landfill, Sunday is at the Hidden Valley Transfer Station, and Tuesday is a float day based on need. Expect consistent over time.

What You'll Do:
- Safely operate heavy equipment like compactors, dozers, excavators, and graders.
- Assist in unloading and loading materials.
- Perform regular equipment inspections and maintenance to keep everything running smoothly.
- Direct traffic on the landfill site to ensure safety and order.
- Monitor for potential hazards and maintain a clean, organized site.
- Offer excellent customer service when interacting with truck drivers and team members.
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment (compactors, dozers, excavators, and graders).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- A strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Must communicate in English for safety purposes (Spanish-speaking skills are a plus).
- Must be able to work in environments with dust, loud noises, odors, and other conditions commonly found at a landfill.
