II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operates a fork truck, a full/oversized pickup truck, and an oversized flat-bed truck to perform required logistical functions.
- Responsible for building and maintaining ship out loads which includes but may not be limited to:
- Staging hoists, crates, and any additional components needed to fill ship out kit orders and notify logistics coordinator once order is complete and ready to ship.
- Review ship out schedule and build orders in line with schedule as close as possible. This may include moving down the schedule to orders that have all components available.
- Monitor component quantities needed to build upcoming orders and advise appropriate individuals of quantities needed to build ship out orders on time.
- Responsible for moving hoists in the yard which includes but may not be limited to:
- Loading hoists onto truck chassis for the hoist mounting department.
- Empty hoist cars coming from paint department and load them on carts for packing department.
- Unload hoists from packing carts and transport them into storage racks or staging area for shipment.
- Undeck chassis from factory deliveries as needed.
- Responsible for loading ship out kits onto trailers for shipment to customers.
- Responsible for unloading incoming trailers which includes, but is not limited to:
- Unload wooden crates for ship out kits.
- Unload cylinders off trailer and deliver to appropriate storage areas.
- Stage roll off platforms for the loading dock, when oil tanks or tool boxes arrive and need to be unloaded.
- The logistics coordinator will perform the Shipping Manager’s task as a backup when they are out of the office.
- Plans and coordinates receiving of incoming deliveries
- Spot-checks loading patterns of finished goods for neat stacking, banding, and undamaged product.
- Meets customers’ receiving personnel and notes any particular customer delivery or shipping needs.
- Prepares bills of lading for shipment to customers, obtaining optimum freight rates, handling of less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments, etc.
- Checks count of returned products from customers and advises quality control department of returned goods
- Assist purchasing with tracking incoming deliveries
- Selects shipments for invoicing and distributes daily invoicing file
- The logistics coordinator is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment at all times and must wear all prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing the assigned tasks and stop work immediately in the event of a non-conformance.
- The logistics coordinator must report to their supervisor immediately any unsafe act or condition that requires corrective action.
- Must practices 5-S within their defined work area, returns all common tools to their proper place when not in use, and cleans the assigned work area once all work has been completed; the work area must be cleared of all debris and in the event a tool does not have an assigned “home” place.
- As an individual and part of a team, strives to support continuous improvement across their personal tasks, the tasks of the materials department, as well as all facets of the business as a whole organization.
- Perform simple and routine maintenance to ensure that all equipment and tools remain safe and fully operational; in the event a piece of equipment is in an unsafe condition, the equipment should be immediately locked out and a supervisor notified.
- Performs other duties as required or directed.
III. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
- High school or equivalent preferred
- One to three years of directly related experience
- Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- Freight dispatch experience preferred
- Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel experience
- Shipping & invoicing in an ERP system
- Knowledge of truck freight rates.
- Sit-down forklift driving experience.
