The Mechanical Designer will report to the Engineering Manager and will be based in Janesville, WI. They will be part of the Engineering Team working on existing and new projects and will be responsible for providing technical support for the layout, design, detailing and releasing of production drawings and BOMs of mechanical systems related to state-of-the-art industrial machines.
DUTIES:
- liaise with other members of the Design and Manufacturing Teams in order to collaboratively develop WF products such as rotary style automation equipment, metal forming machines, transfer tooling presses, rolling mills, transfer presses, defense industry equipment, etc.
. assist with the development and detailing of final designs specific to the projects working directly with Project Leaders
- work with Engineers/Project Leaders to create and update mechanical drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- produce other required documents using Excel and Word
- design and draft equipment systems in 2D and 3D
- be responsible for ensuring the drawings meet established project criteria and applicable standards
- attend design team meetings
- perform other tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager
- occasional travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Mechanical Technologist or undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD an asset
- Strong knowledge of GD&T
- Well-organized and motivated with good initiative and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication and team-working skills
- Passing background check as per ITAR.
Additional Assets:
· Experience with Product Design
· Experience with SolidWorks ePDM systems
· Experience with SolidWorks animations or motion studies
· Experience with creating or maintaining machine manuals
