- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
- Special Education Endorsement: SA - Cognitive Impairment
- Must be knowledgeable in strategies that will meet the academic, developmental, and functional needs of students
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, caregivers, legal guardians, staff and students.
- The ability to provide direction and support to paraeducator staff
- Provide instructional support for students to progress in their educational program
- Maintain special education records in all areas of special education compliance
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
- Proven successful experience in working with students with disabilities
- Comply with timelines, laws and regulations that relate to district, state, federal policies and procedures
- Monitor and document student progress on IEP goals
- Collaborate with all service providers, and other staff to develop instruction and support goals that are designed to meet the learning and behavioral needs of students
- Develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior support plans
- Compile and submit monthly Medicaid reports
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students
- Participate in building meetings as directed by the building principal
- The teacher will provide other services as directed by the Executive Director of Student Support Services and the assigned building principal
- The teacher will comply with Board of Education policies and all state/federal rules and regulations
