Position Summary

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) is a senior executive responsible for managing the company's operational aspects and overseeing day-to-day activities. The COO directs, administers, and coordinates all operational functions in alignment with the policies, goals, and objectives set by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This role plays a crucial part in supporting the CEO in the dynamic and successful growth of the company.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement operational strategies and plans that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations, including supply chain, logistics, and customer service, to ensure efficient and effective execution.
  • Drive process optimization initiatives to streamline operations, improve productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Maintains knowledge of market and industry trends, competitors, and all aspects of the Company’s market.
  • Execute the business plan, achieving or exceeding the company's short-, near-, and long-term strategy & targets (including P&L ownership)
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics and KPIs, making data-driven decisions to optimize performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead efforts related to union relations, including collective bargaining and compliance with labor agreements.
  • Participate in M&A activities, due diligence, and integration efforts
  • Identify and evaluate strategic partnerships and alliances
  • Identify opportunities for growth and expansion, including new markets, products, and services, and lead the execution of strategic initiatives to capitalize on those opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and partners, to drive collaboration and achieve mutual goals..
  • Directly oversee the leadership team, and by extension, their departments. Hold the department heads accountable to exceptionally high standards of execution & performance
  • Design & implement scalable solutions (systems, processes, and people) needed to support current operations, and expected growth and to minimize growing pains
  • Maintains knowledge of market and industry trends, competitors, and all aspects of the Company’s market.

  • Establishes and frequently reviews developmental action plans that promote positive growth for the individual and strengthens succession planning initiatives.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and recommends promotion, wage increases and other performance related actions such as verbal and written counseling notices, discipline, and termination of employment.
  • Strong leadership skills including a collaborative, decisive, and engaging leadership style. Builds strong, trust-based, positive relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Seeks out and listens to others’ ideas and suggestions. Provides clear and concise feedback to direct reports, peers and senior leaders.
  • Ability to effect change and implement new ideas to support business operations.
  • Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in operations leadership roles, with a proven track record of success in driving operational excellence and delivering results.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain, and logistics processes, with experience in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
  • Understand and take action on P&L, balance sheet, and ERP reports
  • Strong understanding of Collective bargaining Agreements
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to adapt to change and lead through ambiguity.

  • Ability to effectively relate to all levels of employees, and build and maintain successful relationships
  • Strong leadership communication skills
  • Highly Proficient PC skills - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email management systems
  • TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20-30%
