Mission Assistant_Van Driver

Job Summary:   

Drives Ministry’s Vehicles including 15 passenger vans to: 1) transport clients to appointments and work site (Thrift Store), 2) picks up donations of food from donors, and 3) provides other general errands as needed in support of the ministry. Performs all preventive maintenance checks and informs supervisor of items needing repair and items that create safety deficiencies.  Perform all reasonably related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training.  Must have a valid state driver’s license and be insurable by the WRM insurance carrier.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Performs daily inspection of van using the inspection form.

·         Maintains schedule to coordinate transportation needs of clients and the ministry’s needs.

·         Operates van to in accordance with the Mission’s Vehicle Policy and Procedures.

·         Makes determinations whether the donations meet the Food Standards outline in the Ministry’s Food Supply policy and procedures.

·         Ensures donations are loaded in a manner which insures safe transportation.

·         Must be able to communicate with donors in a professional manner.

·         Fills out daily reports regarding vehicle routes and donation.

·         Maintains professional appearance and hygiene.

·         Maintains appearance of the vehicle.

·         Provides additional support to Mission as requested by member of Management or Chaplain in charge.

·         Some travel may be necessary for training & temporary duty.

·         Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other Mission management.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. ,
