JOB SUMMARY
The A & M Product Technical Specialist will be responsible for providing pump application specifications for inquiries, quotes, and orders to our external and internal customers. This role manages all technical aspects of our Modular Products (Pump Modules, Pump Kits, Modular Slide-ins, and Integrated Cross-mounts), including application consultation, quotations, assembly consultation and after sales service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist external and internal customers regarding product performance and product changes/additions as needed to the product configurator.
- Prepare and transmit quotations and technical specifications for external and internal customers for all modular products.
- Review and revise Pump/Engine/Ratio Combination chart and Pump/PTO Combination chart annually or as directed.
- Advise Engineering Department of changes/additions needed to the product configurators.
- Interact with Engineering to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Interact with Sales to ensure customer needs are met and growth opportunities are maximized.
- Interact with External and Internal customers to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant product offerings and support policies to provide technically accurate solutions to customers and record these resolutions for general use.
- Work with internal customers as required to identify and report defects, find incident fixes, and validate enhancement requests for modular products.
- Complete special projects in a timely manner.
- Recommend product enhancements and changes to modular products.
- Accomplish warranty and other field repairs, which may include short notice travel.
- Generate letters, memos and email correspondence as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree, mechanical or technical emphasis preferred.
- Five years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of apparatus drivetrain systems, centrifugal pumps, compressed air foam systems, transmissions, power take-offs, engines and associated accessories used in fire apparatus.
- Knowledge of the design and construction of modular products used in fire apparatus.
- Clearly understand parts lists, sectional and isometric drawings, pump performance curves and engine curves.
- Ability to maneuver service parts and cutaway products during training and at trade shows.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Domestic and/or global travel up to 15% of the time.
- EVT certification in F-3 Fire Pumps and Accessories and F-7 Foam Systems preferred.
- Ability and willingness to safely go out on the shop floor as needed to resolve assembly related issues.
