Maintenance Technician
Lead Accountable To: Facilities Director
Position Summary:
- Equipment and Facility maintenance troubleshooting and repair including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, water, drywall, irrigation, lawn equipment etc.
- Working / coordinating with volunteers.
- Large setups and tear downs to support ministry events.
- Assisting with our goal of providing a safe and clean facility.
- Installation and maintenance of landscaping including working with irrigation systems.
Hours:
- 40 hours per week, usually 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
- Monday thru Friday, with some alternate days required.
- Hours will need to be flexible, depending on weather / special events.
Typical Duties:
- Maintenance troubleshooting and Repairs
- Light maintenance and repair of heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
- Light repairs of electrical equipment (coffee pots, light fixtures, pumps, etc.).
- Light plumbing repairs (sinks, toilets, etc.).
- Simple repairs of gas-powered equipment.
- Hardware repair and installation such as door locks, hinges and closures.
- Assisting with preventative maintenance as scheduled.
- Other light repairs associated with the daily operation of a church facility.
Working / Coordinating with Volunteers
- Encourage and work with volunteers.
- Make a volunteer’s service time rewarding and encouraging.
- Encourage volunteers to work in teams and not necessarily follow a maintenance person around.
Large setups and teardowns to support ministry events
- Setting up and taking down eight-foot tables for events.
- Relocating and setting up chairs as required for large events.
- Lifting and sitting up staging for special events. D. Installation and assembly of equipment and furniture.
Assist with our Goal of Providing a Safe and Clean Facility
- Be alerted to building conditions that may be unsafe.
- Monitor employees’ habits to assure safe / clean working condition.
- Report unsafe conditions to the Facility Director.
Installation and Maintenance of Landscaping / Seasonal work
- Mowing and Trimming lawn / working with volunteers.
- Light irrigation repair and maintenance.
- Pond maintenance and treatment (non-restricted herbicides).
- Snow removal (mostly snow blowing / shoveling / salting).
- Placement of Christmas decorations and lighting.
Physical Conditions -
- Generally, the job requires walking, standing, lifting, pushing & pulling.
- Job is performed under some temperature and under some light hazardous conditions. Although primary an indoor work environment occasionally you will be required to work outdoors. Both of these working environments could include exposure to weather extremes, dust, odors and cleaning agents, blood salvia and other bodily fluids that may be unpleasant to deal with.
- Regularly be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch or crawl.
- While performing duties of this job, you will frequently be required to reach with arms, hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate tools and controls.
- You will be required to talk and hear while working.
- Hearing is required in the normal audio range with or without correction.
- Vision is required in a normal range with or without correction. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds and be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly (setting up tables and chairs).
