Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong desire to support veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to pets. This role is essential in ensuring the well-being of animals while assisting with various veterinary procedures and client interactions.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Administer medications as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Perform animal catheterization and maintain aseptic technique during procedures.
- Monitor animal vital signs and behavior before, during, and after treatments.
- Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising pets.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including equipment sterilization.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and health maintenance.
- Handle dogs and other animals safely and effectively during examinations.
- Assist the veterinarians in the urgent care setting.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
- Proficiency in medication administration techniques.
- Experience with animal catheterization is preferred.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques in a veterinary setting.
- Excellent animal handling skills, especially with dogs.
- Understanding of general animal husbandry practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating compassion for animals.
- Urgent Care/Emergency Experience preferred but not required.
