Maine International Film Festival (MIFF) Production Assistant
Temporary; Non-Exempt Status
Reports to: Executive Director, Maine Film Center
Compensation: $18/hour
Timeline: July 2025
The Production Assistant supports festival leadership and venue managers in coordinating and maintaining all festival events. This role requires effective communication and problem-solving to address ongoing needs and provides broad exposure to various aspects of film festival operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality customer service at points of sale and serve as a resource for inquiries from patrons and guests.
- Coordinate venue and small equipment setup, including ticket scanners, printers, computers, public-facing displays, decorations, and other technology.
- Package festival orders for patrons and welcome packets for guests.
- Serve concessions, including alcohol and prepared foods in compliance with state regulations.
- Abide by Waterville Creates employee handbook policies and uphold MIFF code of conduct policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with common computer and web systems, and the ability to learn new software and IT systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Experience handling cash transactions.
- TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS)certification, or ability to complete training required. Necessary training will be covered by Waterville Creates.
- Ability to work independently with keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and provide constructive feedback.
- Availability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekend shifts throughout the Maine International Film Festival.
- Prior film festival or large event experience preferred but not required.
Physical Demands & Work Conditions
- Must be 18 years of age to apply.
- Work is performed in office, theater, and outdoor environments.
- Lifting (up to 50 pounds) may be required.
- Full range of physical mobility, including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, carrying, reaching, and manual dexterity.
- Frequent computer use involving repetitive hand and wrist motion.
