Watkinson School, offering innovative teaching to Hartford and surrounding communities since 1881, seeks a summer-only, full-time First Aid Director for the SPHERE Program at Watkinson School, a non-profit, five-week, academic enrichment program. This summer, SPHERE will serve 60-70 Hartford and East Hartford youth entering grades 1-5.
The First Aid Director must be 21 years of age or older and possess both First Aid and CPR certification (see below for approved licensing organizations). The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of child development as well as a passion for meeting the health needs of the Program’s participants. They must also be committed to building trusting relationships with students, parents, and all SPHERE Summer Program staff and volunteers. They will do this by bringing to the position a sense of professionalism, proactivity, and approachability as well as possessing strong problem-solving and organizational skills.

The First Aid Director’s Responsibilities Include
- Administering first aid and prescribed medications as well as completing the medical log daily by documenting all camper visits and health-related incidents
- Maintaining all medical files for personnel and campers, informing staff of first aid arrangements, and stocking first aid bags for staff when necessary
- Providing health-related guidance to all staff during Orientation week and throughout the Program
- When necessary, calling emergency services or the on-call doctor/APRN for medical support
- Adhering to the rules and regulations of the Office of Early Childhood (OEC) for summer programs and camps

- Physician with a current CT license (or physicians who are licensed in another state, whose standards are equivalent to or greater than those required in this state)
