Position Title: Finance Director

Status and Hours of Work: The position is full-time, exempt, approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and after-hours work for special events or meetings.

General Information:

The Finance Director works in a team approach with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Program Officer, Office Administrator, Community Relations and Fundraising, HR and Office Management Specialist, Program Directors, Kitchen Manager, Board of Directors, and committees to support the mission of Watson Children’s Shelter (“WCS”).

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in accountancy, finance, business administration, or a related field (bachelor’s preferred).
  • 3-5 years of responsible experience in finance and accounting roles. Experience in nonprofit finance/accounting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks and HRIS systems) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; capable of balancing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

· Manage all accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger.

· Oversee and execute Payroll with HR Specialist support.

· Prepare Deposits, reconcile all bank statements, and present them to the CEO and Finance Committee as required.

· Balance and replenish petty cash accounts weekly or as needed.

· Compare monthly revenue and expenses against the established budget and report to the CEO and Board of Directors.

· Assist the CEO and Finance Committee in developing the annual budget and communicate budget status to staff as needed.

· Lead the annual financial statement (GAAP) audit process, acting as liaison with WCS’s external independent audit firm.

· Oversee other annual agency audits.

· Complete all required payroll and other tax filings, including 1099s and W-2s, prior to deadlines.

· Assist in the preparation and filing of the annual Form 990.

· Pay Worker’s Compensation and applicable taxes as required.

· Maintain all applicable insurance policies and maintenance contracts in consultation with the CEO.

· In coordination with the CEO, ensure that we are following the best practice in stewardship of our resources. Adapt and revise established financial policies, procedures and processes as needed.

· Oversee the employee credit card reconciliation/reimbursement processes, ensure that all employees abide by agency policy, and address any budget concerns.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
