The Campus Safety and Operations Project Coordinator reports to the Campus Safety Project Manager. This position coordinates construction and/or facilities related projects throughout the college system. The individual will participate in all phases of the project work from the initial inception to the project close-out. The position oversees creating resource requirements, procuring services, establishing work assignments for the project teams and coordinating and controlling the completion of projects. The position will work closely with the Facilities Operations Specialist.
Responsibilities
Performs tasks associated with the facilities related to project supervision including planning, coordinating and reporting on construction or repair activities. Reviews construction documentation to ensure feasibility of the project and attainment of project goals and objectives.
Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches and develop solutions. Supervise current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track.
Direct project correspondences by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting minutes and emails.
Communicate with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
Generates complete descriptions of work on projects (specifications, plans, details, descriptions, etc.) to be used by contractors in pricing and completing task orders.
Verifies costs and recommends approval for progress payments for project participants. Solicits proposals for changes and reviews these proposals to assure validity of the pricing and scope of work.
Documents financial and construction activity and creates summary reports. Maintains construction projects files and integrates this information into the permanent data base and the facilities document storage system. Reviews and distributes reports of construction activity.
Coordinates the purchase and delivery of equipment and services as required to meet schedules.
Consults with college management and staff to define requirements and monitors the achievement of desired results.
Participates in establishing the departments goals based on the college's priorities and available resources. Proposes solutions to problems at a conceptual level.
Maintains and updates existing quality standards and creates new processes.
Ensures all parties involved in projects enact and follow safe operating procedures.
Fulfills job duties and responsibilities in conformance with sound safety practices.
Performs punch list and close-out procedures, post-construction services and various analyses.
Actively involved in the accomplishment of departmental and of college-wide quality initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration or related field required. An associate degree in a related field may be considered, but candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction project coordination, facilities management, or a related field.
Three years of experience in construction management or project management experience required for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is preferred.
Documentation of progressive responsibility in facilities or construction area required.
Necessary soft skills and qualifications include: interpersonal skills to maintain strong relationships, team-management and leadership, organized and a multi-tasker, problem solver with excellent analytics, documentation management with the ability to use project management tools, and have strong attention to detail.
Time management skills with the ability to meet critical deadlines.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills along with an ability to work collaboratively within a diverse campus community.

Compensation: Placement on the salary schedule is dependent on qualifications. Qualifications include education and experience.
Work Schedule: M-F 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. - Working with contractors may require starting early or tending to work on off hours.
