Reporting to the Assistant Provost of Teaching and Learning, the Dean for Teaching and Learning is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and strategic direction of curriculum development, faculty development, and the integration of instructional design and technology across all teaching modalities. The Dean will have oversight for all programming within the Teaching and Learning Division and is responsible for budgeting, planning, scheduling and day-to-day division operations. The Dean will be responsible for ensuring Waubonsee's educational programs remain innovative, inclusive, current, and relevant to the needs of the district and its students. The Dean will collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Teaching and Learning, faculty development coordinators, faculty, and administrators across the institution to support the development of robust faculty development programming to meet the needs of the college faculty. Additionally, the Dean supervises the Assistant Dean for Teaching and Learning, providing guidance and leadership in faculty development and ensuring the quality and consistency of online, hybrid, and flexible learning programs. Responsibilities for this position also include oversight for instructional design and technology, and support for the learning management system users.
Responsibilities
Within established college policies and procedures, the Assistant Provost of Teaching and Learning delegates authority to the Dean for Teaching and Learning to carry out the following responsibilities :
Supervise the Assistant Dean for Teaching and Learning in developing and managing faculty development programs focused on innovative teaching practices, especially in the areas of High-Impact Practices (HIPs), Competency-Based Education (CBE), undergraduate research, and the use of emerging educational technologies to ensure the successful implementation of faculty development initiatives and online pedagogy projects aimed at improving engagement, retention, and student success.
Oversee the work of the Teaching and Learning division, ensuring that faculty are supported with the resources, training, and professional development needed to succeed in various teaching modalities (face-to-face, online, and hybrid).
Provide leadership in developing and implementing faculty support programs for new full-time and adjunct faculty, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and effective teaching practices.
Provide guidance and assist in the curriculum review, development, and approval processes, which includes serving on the Curriculum Council and ensuring compliance with the appropriate accrediting and governing bodies.
Assist in development of timelines and processes for curriculum changes or additions to allow for thorough review at multiple levels of approval and to ensure timely updates to the college website, catalog and course schedules.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in an academic discipline or administrative area.
Minimum three years of experience in higher education, with significant experience in curriculum development, faculty development, and instructional technology.
Three years of supervisory / leadership experience required.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and administrators.
Strong leadership and management skills, with experience supervising staff and guiding cross-departmental teams.
Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and instructional technology administration.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching in higher education setting. Experience in overseeing online, hybrid, and flexible learning programs.
Familiarity with accreditation standards for online learning and distance education.
Familiarity with the ICCB and HLC.
Experience with budget and fiscal management.
