About the Role
This key position reports to the Dean for Teaching and Learning and provides strategic leadership and guidance on teaching innovation, faculty development, and academic achievement. The Assistant Dean plays a vital role in enhancing the college's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on supporting underrepresented populations through High-Impact Practices (HIPs), Competency-Based Education (CBE), undergraduate research, emerging educational technologies, and aligned teaching practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance and supervision to the Teaching and Learning team, working closely with the Dean for Teaching and Learning.
- Leverage national trends, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards to ensure institutional compliance and best practices in online teaching and learning design.
- Develop and implement effective strategies for online, hybrid, and flexible learning modalities, including faculty training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with IT, LMS, and VMS vendors, overseeing contracts and third-party integrations and learning tools.
- Serve as a college representative and liaison for various statewide and national organizations, promoting collaboration and exchange of best practices.
Requirements
- Masters degree in a related field required; formal training in instructional technology and/or instructional design preferred.
- Three years of higher education experience in faculty development, instructional technology/design, or curriculum development, including at least two years with college-level online learning programming.
- Two years supervisory or project management experience required.
- Strong problem-solving skills, project management skills, and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
