What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Director - Northwest High School position at Waukee Community School District?
Position Criteria:
- Valid State of Iowa Teaching license
- Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE) Administrator License or Iowa Administrator (BOEE) and Activities Administration Authorization
- Evaluator Approval endorsement
- Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience
- Minimum 5 years experience as coach or sponsor
Performance Criteria:
- Leadership Teams: attends team meetings with different leadership teams in their building & attends other leadership teams district-wide (i.e. administrative team meetings)
- Coaches Evaluations
- Coaches Walk Throughs - evaluating coaches as part the continued professional growth cycle
- Personnel Matters - activities/athletics coach’s personnel matters
- Discipline & attendance - student issues, discipline, & attendance issues in activities/athletics.
- Sports Schedules (scheduling events, updating schedules, problem solving conflicts, weather events, etc.)
- Hiring Staff - takes lead in hiring 8/9 coaches for the specific building
- Budget - assists in determining, monitoring & approving purchases within the activities budget.
- Event supervision (event set up, coordinating workers, supervising event, student & crowd management, handling officials, after event clean up)
- Event Preparation (gate workers, concession stand workers, scoreboard and officials)
- Facilities management/planning (custodial concerns, bldg maintenance, bathrooms, IT tickets, etc.)
- AD Meetings/ Booster Club Meetings
- Staff communication
- General email
- Parent/ Community communication - problem solving student, parent, and staff concerns, communicating disciplinary consequences. Activities event information
- Busing/Transportation (communication, supervision & discipline)
- Emergency Protocol (Weather events)
