SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing duties to repair and maintain machinery, equipment, building, and facilities requiring a broad knowledge of basic maintenance skills including mechanical repair, plumbing, welding, carpentry, fabrication, and knowledge of electrical repair.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services.
  2. Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and operating difficulties.
  3. Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance (P.M.) on equipment and machinery.
  4. Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production.
  5. Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement of purchased parts.
  6. Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting, and aligning oper
  7. Perform maintenance on the buildings, facilities, and the grounds.
  8. Assist to determine the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion.
  9. Perform preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning units.
  10. Maintain required maintenance logs and files.
  11. Interpret and understand basic electrical and hydraulic prints, ability to troubleshoot and make necessary repairs.
  12. Perform routine housekeeping activities in the department and ensure adherence to established safety procedures and requirements.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT:
Requires the use of safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Requires a broad knowledge of mechanical repair and maintenance as may be acquired in a formalized training program within a technical school including blueprint reading and interpretation or a minimum of two years extensive experience in a variety of maintenance trades.
