The Waupun Area School District is seeking an ML (Multilingual Learner) Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. This position will serve students District-wide working in partnership with the ML Coordinator and ML Teacher Assistant. This teacher will work with students that have limited English proficiency to assist them in becoming proficient in academic English and prepare them for continuing education and career readiness goals. In addition, this teacher will work closely with regular education staff to plan and facilitate lessons and assessments that allow ML students to access the regular education curriculum.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Ability to communicate in Spanish (Bilingual) preferred
Apply knowledge of first and second language acquisition theories (SIOP, bilingual, Dual Language, etc.) to provide whole group (co-teaching) or small group instruction as appropriate for individual language learners’ proficiency levels,
Ability to be student centered;
Able to demonstrate knowledge of student learning needs and styles;
Draft and implement ILPs
Collaborates with classroom teachers, specialists, and ML Team to ensure achievement of Multilingual learners across content areas.
Reflects on awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families.
Possesses the skills necessary for serving as a liaison between the school and the home.
Effectively communicate with classroom teachers, specialists, administration and families.
Attends meetings and professional development opportunities.
Administer ACCESS Test
Ability to align instruction to academic standards
Translate written communication(s) for the purpose of assisting students, staff and parents in communicating.
Develop relationships and support all students in their academic, social, and emotional success.
Collaborate with staff to plan and implement the 2020 ELD Standards Framework
Maintain and analyze multiple sources of data
Additional duties as needed
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
DPI License – English as a Second Language (ESL) (1395)
Preference will be given to candidates who possess a certification in Bilingual Education (1023)

The Waupun Area School District is a 4K-12 school district serving a population of 1900 students in South Central Wisconsin. Located conveniently on Hwy 151, Waupun is only 45 minutes north of Madison and 20 minutes south of Fond du Lac. WASD is home to four schools, including a charter school in Fox Lake.
