Description:
The Buyer I purchases lab supplies, raw materials, and shipping supplies. Maintains and tracks purchasing activities such as delivery status and pricing to support internal policies and procedures. Takes appropriate actions to ensure on-time delivery of materials. Negotiate with key suppliers for competitive pricing and lead-times to ensure continuity of supply. Monitors supplier performance (quality, on-time delivery, lead-time) through key metrics indicators to drive improvements.
Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline is required
• A minimum of 1 years of procurement experience in complicated Supply Chain structures
• Experience with Quality and ERP systems
• Experience using MS applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project)
• Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical or medical products industries
Responsibilities:
- Create purchase orders and place requisitions based on MRP or business needs.
- Maintain accurate dates on Purchase Orders and or releases.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.
- Understand and comprehend the production schedules.
- Develop and manage relationships with Suppliers.
- Regular review of the purchase order report addressing any changes that would impact the
- production schedule
- Review Suppliers Open Order reports and schedule weekly or biweekly meetings
- Provide data to internal customers and planning in case of a supply disruption.
- Work with Logistics and suppliers to resolve Purchase Order issues.
- Participates in the annual Standard Cost process.
- Manage Raw Material Failure process, including Block inventory and the Supplier Corrective Action Request process.
- Support the Manufacturing Compliance Specialist in obtaining information from the supplier to complete new Part number and Supplier creations.
- Negotiate lead times and price.
- Define the Purchasing unit of measure and price prior to a new Part Number creation.
- Manage Freight, Supplier Expedite costs and ensure Suppliers use WAVE-suggested carriers.
- Work with Finance to resolve Purchase Price Variance, Pricing, and Good Receipt issues.
- Support Supplier Relationship Management processes, metrics/KPI development and application
- Initiate and Manage Quality Systems in support of cGMP.
- Represent Procurement in the Supplier Change Notification meeting.
