Description
Wave Life Sciences USA seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join its team in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This is an ideal position for an individual with an interest in developing RNA-based therapeutics and who thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced, and cross disciplinary biotech environment. The main area of focus for the project will be in the forefront of basic research into RNA editing, siRNA and other oligonucleotide technologies. The candidate will be an integral member of a small team of scientists aiming to rapidly and pragmatically realize the potential of a novel oligonucleotide therapeutics platform.
Experience
- Recent or upcoming graduate with a PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or related field
- Experience with mammalian cell culture including transfection, RNA isolation, qPCR, etc.
- Experience in studying RNA biology is desired but not required
- Familiarity with next generation sequencing methods and oligonucleotide therapeutics (antisense, siRNA, exon-skipping, etc.) is a plus
Responsibilities
Will include some or all of the following:
- Work with scientists in the biology team to advance RNA targeting technologies
- Plan and execute experiments to optimize oligonucleotide design for the purpose of optimizing RNA technologies across multiple different tissue and cell models
- Rationally apply Wave’s proprietary PRISM platform to improve oligonucleotide efficacy and design
- Execute both in vivo and in-vitro assays to characterize both changes in the RNA editing and gene expression
- Prepare clearly articulated experimental reports and data presentations
- Attend and contribute to discussions in weekly internal team meetings
- Publish findings in high-quality peer reviewed scientific journals and/or relevant conferences
