What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronics Technician 1 or 2 position at Wavelength Electronics?
Wavelength Electronics designs and manufactures precision electronics for critical Laser Systems. We’re looking for someone to join our Manufacturing team to test and troubleshoot our electronics assemblies, making sure they work before they are sent out to our customers. This person will use oscilloscopes, multimeters, and computer programs to follow our test protocols. With excellent process control and dedicated co-workers, ideally 95% of the assemblies pass first test. Troubleshoot the units that don’t pass and repair them with help and training from the Design Engineering Team. Give feedback on failure modes to the Manufacturing Engineering team to identify any assembly process improvements. This job is ideal for someone who loves electronics (even DIY) and wants to improve their troubleshooting skills. We will train the right person on advanced soldering and troubleshooting techniques.
Hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, Day Shift, at our automated, clean manufacturing facility. Key Objectives:
- Test all products prior to shipment per established test protocols.
- Troubleshoot analog or digital circuits that fail, decide to repair or scrap the product.
- Repair / rework failed items to IPC reliability standards.
- Meet ship dates, take initiative to allow manufacturing to ship early.
- Support manufacturing by completing rework or soldering as needed.
Education and Experience
- Ideally has a two-year technical degree & two years related experience - or equivalent practical experience
- Knowledge of circuit troubleshooting to the part level – e.g. op-amp circuits, analog control systems, microprocessors
- Ability to work with multimeters, oscilloscopes, & schematics to troubleshoot and repair electronics
- Knowledge of hand soldering and rework
- Knowledge of IPC standards a plus
