JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: School Secretary - Guidance
TYPE OF POSITION: Classified
REPORTS TO: Principal, Assistant Principal
POSITION PURPOSE: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Performs the necessary office routines and practices associated with a busy, yet productive and smoothly run school office.
- Maintains such student records as shall be required.
- Receives and routes incoming and outgoing calls and written communications.
- Maintains absence affidavits.
- Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials as directed by the principal.
- Attends to ill and injured students.
- Types correspondence, forms, reports, certificates, etc.
- Assists with withdrawals and enrollments.
- Other duties as determined and assigned by the Principal/Assistant Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High school diploma.
- Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
- Skills in human relations.
- Ability to plan and organize, good work habits.
- Ability to type accurately at a minimum speed of 50 words per minute. Employee should also be able to use the machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which may be representative, but not all inclusive, of that commonly associated with the type of work, i.e., calculator, forms, ledgers, schedules, and computers.
- Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
