Category Associate

This is an on-site position which requires 4 days in our Boston Office.

The Category Management team offers a unique opportunity to drive strategy for Wayfair’s largest product categories through tight internal and external partnership. Category Associates own and drive the supplier experience, key initiatives are driven through and owned by you. We serve as ambassadors of the product categories we manage. We are at the forefront as Wayfair redefines the supplier experience as a platform, giving suppliers more data, more transparency, and more control while retaining the high-touch elements that make working with Wayfair exceptional.

Internally, we leverage a diverse set of cross-functional partners to execute our strategic vision. In a role on the Category Management team, you will be expected to define overarching goals and strategy within your category, problem-solve, articulate and execute against tactical plans, and manage key business metrics. Members of the team must be able to expertly negotiate internally and externally, while also being effective project managers.

What You’ll Do:

• Drive the overall performance of your supplier portfolio and overall category performance, ultimately driving against revenue and profitability growth targets
• Support the category plan to achieve a best-in-class customer experience: strong assortment, competitive pricing, high in-stock rates, and optimized speed
• Analyze data, trends, and execute key initiatives in support of the above objectives; Key metrics include revenue, price competitiveness, availability, conversion, and inventory turns.
• Develop new opportunities for suppliers to expand assortment and grow their businesses
• Work cross-functionally by building strong partnerships to create synergies and streamline work streams across merchandising, promotions, marketing, on-trend product selection, effective pricing and profitability, and operational excellence channels
• Establish supplier relationships to successfully negotiate a premium customer experience
• Act as a contributor and thought partner for the broader Storage team
• Represent Wayfair as an ambassador in offsite events

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree earned by date of hire
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to persuade and negotiate
• Analytical mindset able to process large volumes of data using a variety of reporting tools (Excel, SQL, etc.)
• Ability to distill complex information in a simplistic way via emails, charts, graphs, and other forms of presentations
• Passionate about execution with strong interest to drive customer engagement
• Desire to thrive as part of a team and individually
• Comfortable navigating a fast-paced, dynamic environment with little structure
• Strong management and prioritization skills
