About the role
- The Nuclear Construction Field Coordinator plays a vital role in managing on-site construction activities for nuclear projects. This position ensures that field operations are executed according to project plans, schedules, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The coordinator acts as the primary liaison between construction crews, engineers, contractors, and project management teams to ensure seamless workflow and quality execution.
Projects range from PIPING REPLACEMENT, CONDENSER ACTIVITIES, COOLING TOWER OVERHAUL
This is an on-site, full-time, contracted position in Covert, MI at Palisades Nuclear Plant in support of their restart effort.
What you'll do
- On-Site Coordination
- Oversee daily construction activities to ensure alignment with project schedules and specifications.
- Coordinate the allocation of personnel, equipment, and materials to meet project needs.
- Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Safety and Compliance
- Enforce adherence to nuclear safety protocols, environmental regulations, and site-specific guidelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
- Report incidents and collaborate with safety teams to implement corrective actions.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for project managers, contractors, and engineers.
- Facilitate regular field meetings to discuss progress, address issues, and align objectives.
- Ensure timely communication of changes, updates, and challenges to relevant stakeholders.
- Quality Assurance
- Monitor construction work to ensure it meets engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Conduct inspections and document non-conformities for resolution.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and resolve field issues promptly.
- Scheduling and Progress Tracking
- Track daily progress and update schedules to reflect on-site developments.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks to maintain project timelines.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to project management teams.
- Document Management
- Maintain detailed records of construction activities, including work logs, inspection reports, and material usage.
- Ensure proper documentation of changes or deviations from original plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 5-10 years of experience in field coordination for construction projects, ideally within the nuclear or energy sector.
- Knowledge of nuclear construction standards, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, AutoCAD).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Must be able to be able to gain unescorted badge access to nuclear power plant facility, which adheres to strict Computer Based Testing, Fitness-For-Duty, Background Check, Drug/Alcohol Testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in construction management (e.g., CCM, PMP).
- Experience working in high-security or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with ASME, NRC, or other nuclear-related standards.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple teams in a fast-paced environment. secure and regulated environment as a nuclear power plant and construction sites.
