About the role
  • The Nuclear Project Manager oversees the planning, execution, and successful completion of nuclear projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with stringent safety and regulatory standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills to manage multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and complex challenges in the nuclear industry.
Projects range from PIPING REPLACEMENT, CONDENSER ACTIVITIES, COOLING TOWER OVERHAUL

This is an on-site, full-time, contracted position in Covert, MI at Palisades Nuclear Plant in support of their restart effort.
What you'll do
  • Project Planning and Execution
    • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
    • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
    • Oversee the implementation of project plans, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensure all project activities comply with nuclear safety standards and local, national, and international regulations.
    • Work closely with safety and quality assurance teams to enforce rigorous safety protocols.
  • Team Leadership and Coordination
    • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, technicians, and contractors.
    • Facilitate collaboration across departments and resolve conflicts to maintain project momentum.
    • Provide guidance, training, and support to project team members.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, regulators, and vendors.
    • Prepare and deliver project status reports, presentations, and updates to stakeholders.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and address concerns promptly.
  • Risk and Issue Management
    • Identify potential risks to project success and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor and address project challenges, making adjustments as necessary to stay on track.
    • Ensure contingency plans are in place for critical scenarios.
  • Budget and Financial Oversight
    • Develop and manage project budgets, tracking costs and controlling expenditures.
    • Conduct financial performance analyses and prepare budgetary reports for senior management.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Drive innovation and process improvements to enhance project efficiency.
    • Analyze lessons learned from completed projects and apply findings to future initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in project control center/outage control center, nuclear project management/leadership, preferably in the nuclear industry.
  • Familiarity with nuclear regulatory requirements and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies efficiently.
  • Must be able to be able to gain unescorted badge access to nuclear power plant facility, which adheres to strict Computer Based Testing, Fitness-For-Duty, Background Check, Drug/Alcohol Testing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, CAPM).
  • Experience in a control center or high-pressure operational environment.
  • Understanding of nuclear power plant operations and systems.

Work Environment

  • This role requires working in a high-security environment, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • May involve shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Office and fieldwork in secure and regulated environment as a nuclear power plant and construction sites.
