SUMMER ART CAMP INSTRUCTOR
SUMMARY:
Wayne Art Center’s popular and much-loved Summer Art Camp is celebrating 39 years serving the Mainline and surrounding communities. Well known for the quality of instruction, Wayne Art Center teachers are acclaimed for their ability to design well-crafted lesson plans that are infused with artmaking as well as art historical reference through 10 distinct weekly themes. The Summer Art Camp experience inspires curiosity, confidence, problem solving and creativity for campers, ages 5-17 over ten weeks within a nurturing studio setting.
Wayne Art Center is seeking teachers in all artistic disciplines (drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, cartooning, mosaics, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, drama, culinary, fiber arts, architecture) for positions in the Summer Art Camp 2023 Program.
GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION:
SAC 2023 DATES: June 12 - August 18. Wayne Art Center offers 10 individually themed, 1-week sessions, Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 3:00pm. Studios are open for teachers to set-up/ clean-up from 8:30am – 4:00pm.
Morning Art Classes 9:30am – 12:00pm
Afternoon Art Classes 12:30pm – 3:00pm
The full and half-day camp structure provides flexibility to art educators. Teachers can commit to morning, afternoon for full day classes during the 10-week session.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, develop and provide lesson plans related to each weekly theme that include specific artmaking techniques incorporated with art historical reference. Daily lesson plans that include teaching objectives, daily project goals and list of art materials are required.
Encourage students to produce consistent, high-quality work, creating a theme inspired group show displayed at the end of each camp session week.
Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and ability to supervise students and volunteers.
Respond to emails and/ or calls in a timely manner.
Maintain positive interactions with parents about their camper’s achievements and struggles.
Be dependable, enthusiastic, and demonstrate a positive attitude.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree or Teaching Certification (preferred)
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience with elementary age and middle school children.
Previous camp teaching experience (preferred).
General knowledge of various art techniques, different disciplines, materials, and curriculum.
Ability to teach children of all ages and backgrounds.
Provide current child abuse clearances, fingerprint & background checks.
