Scope:
To coordinate services in the interest of aiding clients to progress toward greater self-sufficiency as it relates to their basic needs, educational and financial goals. Additionally, to develop and maintain relationships with area service providers.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate services in the interest of aiding agency clients to progress toward greater self-sufficiency as it relates to their basic needs, educational, and financial goals.
- May also provide services in client’s home in conjunction with Weatherization Program Energy Auditors.
- May also provide services in client’s home in conjunction with Water Residential Assistance Program (WRAP) Conservation Water Auditors.
- May also facilitate water, financial and energy utility workshops.
- Conducts comprehensive analysis of needs and provides coordination of services to all assigned clients.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure that they are meeting their goals and offer support to continue on the path of self-sufficiency by providing encouragement and alternate resources and/or services.
- Maintain proper client file documentation and utilize various databases to comply with funding requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with area service providers necessary to remain up-to-date in the knowledge of available services and to increase the services available to agency clients.
- Continuously monitor and assess the adequacy of referral agencies in the provision of such services.
- Work closely with agency staff to share information gathered regarding services available for low-income persons, the means through which to access those services, and contacts which may be helpful to ensure all agency clients are well served.
- Provide support in various capacities to other Wayne Metro departments to achieve departmental/organizational goals.
- Interviews clients to obtain information necessary to make eligibility determinations and conducts initial intake interviews and process clients for assistance and verifying documentation and paperwork as needed.
- Reviews and evaluates clients' circumstances and documentation to determine if they meet the program’s eligibility requirements.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients, and staff, and a willingness to work with others.
- Perform work in a professional manner that upholds Wayne Metro’s policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a professional office environment with a usually quiet noise level. This is largely a sedentary role and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, frequently use hands and to talk or hear.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.
- Minimum of four years of experience in Human Services
- Ability to identify, contact and work with area social service providers in both the public and private sectors in the interest of aiding low-income persons and services available to meet those needs.
- Ability to adapt to different demands; negotiate stressful situations; and work independently with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to use sound judgment and initiative to analyze and resolve problems.
- Effective listening skills and professional communication skills, both orally and in written form.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community.
- Demonstrate understanding of high-quality customer service.
- Possess strong planning and organization skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to identify, contact and work with area social service providers in both the public and private sectors in the interest of aiding low-income persons and services available to meet those needs.
Minimum Competencies:
- Working knowledge of basic internet applications and programs including Google technology and Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The ability to learn and utilize the necessary programs for this position.
- Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability.
- Ability to provide services for those persons facing economic, social, health, age, and educational barriers.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment (as deemed necessary).
- Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies and procedures.
Travel Requirements:
- Ability to travel to various sites.
Licensing and Other Requirements:
- Valid identification and reliable transportation.
- Although the Covid-19 vaccination is no longer mandated, it is encouraged. Wayne Metro will always prioritize the safety of our staff and clients.
Work Hours:
Work schedule is Monday – Friday, with specific hours (and occasional Saturdays) to be determined by department needs.
