Description

Scope:

Responsible for assisting in the facilitation of human resource activities including: employee recruitment, hiring, orientation, and the maintenance necessary to maximize the strategic objectives of the agency, during and after the full cycle recruitment process and the employee life cycle.

Essential Functions

  • Provides overall administrative support to the HR department, including maintaining, processing,filing and entering documentation into the HRIS system to maintain accurate, thorough, and efficient record keeping.
  • Facilitate the Full cycle recruitment process from Interviews, to onboarding, and beyond new Hire orientation.
  • Prepare and assist with new hire orientation, while communicating and managing the expectations of department hiring managers.
  • Post vacant positions to inform candidates of employment openings, consideration and selection. Evaluate recruitment and selection criteria to ensure compliance with federal and state regulatory laws.
  • Send notifications to staff on personnel transaction changes (i.e. change memos)
  • Reset passwords for HR databases, and train staff on how to access all employee systems.
  • Monitor and track various eligibility data
  • Adheres to strict standards or confidentiality and maintains a high level of integrity for the HR department and the agency.
  • Monitor and track staff requirements including background checks, certifications/credentials, health appraisals, training, etc.
  • Run reports, to analyze and track data
  • Assist with total rewards initiatives (i.e service awards, fitness reimbursements, tuition reimbursement, etc.) Prepare and order service awards for all staff meetings.
  • Arrange for pre-placement physicals, drug screening, and TB testing in accordance with program funding requirements..
  • Register with and utilize the Criminal Justice Information Center of the Michigan State Police. This service (ICHAT) is used for on-line access to criminal conviction records where required by program funding sources and other required screenings.
  • Participate in special projects.
  • Assist with audits and monitoring.
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients, and staff, and a willingness to work with others.
  • Perform work in a professional manner that upholds Wayne Metro’s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in a professional office environment with a usually quiet noise level.

This is largely a sedentary role and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, frequently use hands and to talk and/or hear. Some work is performed inside and / or outside of our regularly assigned office. The employee may be required to climb, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree OR a minimum of three years of experience in Human Resources OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.

Minimum Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of basic internet applications and programs including Google technology and Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The ability to learn and utilize the necessary programs for this position; tech savvy.
  • Results oriented, while ensuring attention to detail and accuracy; data entry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Creative problem solver & critical thinker
  • Able to balance multiple tasks while employing deductive reasoning
  • Good interpersonal and professional skill, including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Ability to provide services for those persons facing economic, social, health, age, and educational barriers.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment (as deemed necessary).
  • Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies and procedures.

Licensing and Other Requirements:

  • Valid state identification
  • Reliable transportation.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is recommended, but not required.

Travel Requirements:

Ability to travel to various sites.

Work Hours:

Work to be scheduled Monday through Friday with specific hours to be determined by program needs.
