Academic Services Officer I - Enrollment Management Office- Law School

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Academic Services Officer I - Enrollment Management Office- Law School at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

Play a pivotal role in increasing enrollment, enhancing retention, and ensuring success of all non-J.D. programsundergraduate and graduate legal programs offered through the Law School with specific attention to undergraduate programs.

Provide academic advising and support to undergraduate students enrolled in the Law School programs through individual appointments and group advising.

Work collaboratively with leadership to ensure that students satisfy degree requirements. Demonstrated commitment to foster student success through mentoring and appreciative advising.

Advise enrolled students on academic policies and procedures, degree, and program requirements. Must be knowledgeable of campus and law school resources designed to assist students with academic success. Ability to collaborate with other units on campus to provide support for students.

Represent and market the undergraduate non-J.D.legal programs to internal and external constituencies, including current and prospective students, employers, and appropriate organizations (e.g., community colleges and local high schools).

Organize and attend recruitment events specific to undergraduate non-J.D. legal programs (e.g., information sessions, undergraduate admission events, Festifall, STEM Day, etc.).

Provide academic advising to prospective non-J.D. law students interested in undergraduate legal programs. Advise potential and current students on admission requirements, degree requirements, and graduation information. Handle student walk-ins, telephone inquiries, and email requests for information regarding undergraduate non-J.D.legal programs.

Communicate effectively and accurately academic and nonacademic requirements, policies, and procedures to prospective and admitted students, staff and faculty.

Collect student data and prepare a variety of accurate reports. Provide data support to the Senior Assistant Dean, Director and law school leadership as required.

Provide program support to Educational Outreach Specialist on various events and initiatives with minimal supervision.

Provide program support and leadership on various projects and law school initiatives with minimal supervision.

Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required for an ASO I. Minimum 1-3 years' experience in higher education in relevant areas; enrollment services, academic advising, curricular planning, student affairs or directly related experience.

Ability to work well with others, with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and students.

Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize workload. Critical thinking skills and the ability to propose and implement effective solutions to issues and/or problems.

Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.

Good oral and written communication skills.

Computer literacy required.
