As a Pharmacy Technician, you’ll support pharmacy operations by processing prescriptions, assisting with medication dispensing, and managing formularies. Responsibilities:
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will:
- Process Prescriptions: Accurately process prescription orders, verify patient and insurance information, and ensure compliance with legal and safety requirements.
- Dispense Medications: Prepare and dispense medications according to prescriptions, ensuring proper labeling and packaging for safe distribution.
- Support Formulary Management: Maintain and update formulary records under the guidance of the pharmacy leadership team and optimize formulary processes to meet client needs.
- Manage Inventory: Monitor stock levels, ensure proper medication storage, and manage expiration dates to minimize waste.
- Deliver Exceptional Customer Service: Address patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy, collaborating with healthcare providers and insurers to resolve prescription-related issues.
- Ensure Quality and Accuracy: Adhere to operating procedures, participate in quality control measures, and assist with audits to maintain the highest standards of safety and accuracy.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you need:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Active and unrestricted Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license (required)
- Good standing with Medicare and Medicaid
- Prior experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or clinical setting (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical operations, including prescription processing, terminology, drug interactions, and dosage calculations
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software (Pioneer) or a willingness to learn quickly
- Strong communication skills with a patient-focused and empathetic approach
- Exceptional attention to detail for accurate prescription processing and error resolution
